The Associated Cement Companies Limited, popularly known as ACC Ltd, one of the largest Cement Producing Industry in India, has collaborated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to safely and effectively manage and dispose-off the waste that usually results during the cricket matches. The primary objective of the collaboration is to support India’s Swachh Bharat Mission.
India and England are playing against each other in the three-match One Day International (ODI) series at the Pune Stadium. It is where the GEOCYCLE, ACC’s in-house waste management body, will operate to provide safe and effective waste management solutions.
Mr Sridhar Balakrishnan, MED & CEO of ACC Limited told that they are elated to have an opportunity to incorporate GEOCYCLE for the support of the Swachh Bharat Mission. He added that they aim to keep up with their efforts in providing waste management solutions to local municipal bodies and the industries while striving to meet the highest norms of health, safety and sustainability.
It’s been nearly a decade now since the Cement giant is into providing waste management solutions to different communities, industries, and to the various stakeholders associated with the Waste Management Industry.
The company, through its waste management arm i.e. Geocycle has provided a clean and sustainable solution for the safe disposal of around 6 lakh tonnes of waste in 2020, which otherwise would have ended into landfills. With its in-house technology called the co-processing technology, ACC aims to benefit society by providing a ‘Zero Landfill’ solution with no significant emission.
The company also avoids contamination of resources such as air, soil and water, and strongly works in recovering energy and minerals from the waste matter. ACC Ltd, with its reliance on alternative fuel sources, has managed to attain the Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR) of 6.9% in the year 2020 compared to 5.6% in the preceding year.
