Nashik, the city popular among the youth for its yearly held Sulafest, and being recognised as the largest producer of grapes, has another feather in its hat!
The city's Municipal commissioner Mr. Kailash Jadhav told the media that the city has crossed the 90% mark in terms of segregation of Dry and Wet waste at the source. Jadhav added that the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) was able to achieve the result through ways like conducting awareness programmes for the citizens, penalising people who are not cooperating for segregating the waste at source, etc.
Mr Jadhav discussed the scenario where a year ago, the segregation of waste at source were just 60%. He is positive that by the end of this year the NMC will achieve the mark of 100% segregation at source.
90% Segregation at source is one of the significant preparative measures of Nashik Municipal Corporation for the Swachh Survekshan 2021, a cleanliness survey conducted by the Union Government. The city is already winning accolades for making up to the 11th position in the last year from the 67th position in 2019.
