They commit to ensuring that 100% of their plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.
Hindustan Unilever, recently launched the ‘Smart Fill’ machine which is an in-store vending model for their Home Care products. The aim of this model is to reuse, reduce and recycle plastic that go into our households as means of packaging. In the pilot phase, this vending machine had been installed at Reliance Smart Acme Mall in Mumbai. The industry-defining initiative offers their consumers an innovative option to reuse plastic bottles by refilling their home care products.
The encouragement being offered to consumers is INR 30 off on the MRP or effective price at the store if they get their bottle and Rs 15 off to those who purchase the Smart Fill bottle. The ‘Smart Fill’ machine dispenses their flagship products like =”https://www.surfexcel.in/home.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Surf excel liquid for Top Load and Front Load washing machines; =”https://www.hul.co.in/brands/home-care/comfort-fabric-conditioner.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Comfort Fabric Conditioner and =”https://www.hul.co.in/brands/home-care/vim.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Vim Dishwash Liquid Gel.

They have further committed to reducing the use of virgin plastic to half the quantity by reducing the absolute use of plastic packaging and accelerating the use of recycled plastic. The brand has committed to collecting and processing more plastic packaging waste than the plastic used in their product packaging. They will also enable the collection and processing of over 1 lakh tons of post-consumer plastic waste through their partners across the country.
